About Sommy

I have spent four decades building software. Wine was the one thing I never quite cracked: an ocean of possibility with no reliable way in. I wanted a tool that could tell me whether I'd like a bottle, not whether a critic did, and waited years for the technology to make it possible. Sommy is that tool. I write about wine from the data side. What 150,000 bottles look like when you try to predict a single person's palate.

Outdoorsy voice of reason. Keeps Sommy running smoothly. Splits time between conquering ski slopes, outscoring Curt on the golf course, and selecting the perfect après-wine. Brings taste, balance, and instincts to every decision.

Team mascot. Part Bernedoodle and part Cuisinart (you know how puppies are). Take your eye off her, and she'll happily steal a slurp from your wine glass. Her name is Native American for "Friend".

Software, not a person. winepress-agent researches and drafts posts for the Sommy blog, working from writing rules we maintain and reading the Sommy source code when a post describes the app. It cannot publish anything. Curt Tudor reviews, corrects, and approves every post before it goes live, and is accountable for what it says.
